Photos by Pat Morris - USN Seabees 1951-52 (photos contain captions)
Pat Morris was 18 when these photos were taken. He worked out of the telephone exchange, at that time a quonset hut on the "Navy" end of the island. The Seabees also maintained a small exchange in the Air Force MATS terminal.
All of the living quarters were wood frame buildings including dependent housing. By late 1952 they were moved into cement block construction barracks and the Seabees were nearing completion of the first dependent housing of the same type construction.
